Melanotaenia rubrostriata "Rawa Biru"
Melanotaenia rubrostriata "Rawa Biru"
These are special to me because, although I've been able to obtain wild rubrostriata in the past, I have never been able to get a firm collection point on them. Lucky for me, Hans-Georg Evers went to Rawa Biru in 2016 and collected this amazing fish. He was not looking for it...his intention was to study the Iriatherina werneri (Threadfin Rainbows) that live in the habitat, but these were there too. As were, interestingly enough, Toxotes chatreus (Archer Fish) even though this is a completely freshwater blackwater habitat. Imagine that!!! A "brackish" water fish in very soft water with a pH of less than 5.0. But I digress. These are currently around 1.5" - 2" in size, give or take a bit. They are just starting to show some color and pattern However, adult rubrostriata are stunning fish so, give them a bit of time to grow, and they should become show stoppers. Sold unsexed
