They send out electrical pulses to sense their environment, hunt for food, and communicate with each other. They are not dangerous like electric eels and electric catfish. Instead of discharging a large charge to stun prey or decapacitate predators like the cats and eels, these fish send out small electrical signals on a regular basis in order to "feel" the world around them. Setup Considerations: Hiding places for each individual fish are important. They often choose to crowd together, but sometimes they like a bit of "alone time" and having the space to go off into their own private hiding space is important to them. Specific Care Requirements: This species is highly gregarious. They do best in groups where their constant electrical chatter is frequently answered by conspecifics. Diet: Peaceful Carnivores. In our experience, these fish won't eat flakes, pellets, and other processed foods. They need frozen and live foods in order to thrive.
