Natural Range: Lower Mekong Basin, Central and Southern Thailand Source: Aquarium Bred and Raised Estimated size at shipping: 0.33-1" Adult Size: around 1-1.5" Sold as: Unsexed Overview: One of the best nano fishes out there. These guys top out at about 1.5". They pack a lot of glitter and sparkles onto their small frames which are complimented by bold patterning, red fins, and lots of bluish iridescence. In addition, they are peaceful and hardy, making them a great addition to community aquariums. Setup Considerations: These are undemanding fish which appreciate nooks and crannies they can hang out in. This can be provided by a simple piece of pvc pipe or a complex aquascape ... or anything in-between. As long as they have a shelter, they will generally settle in and color up nicely. In nature, this species is found in the vegetated small ponds and ditches typical of bubble nesting anabantids. The water in these habitats is usually still, so these fish haven't developed the ability to handle strong water movement in their aquariums. A lightly bubbling sponge filter or other low-flow filter is just fine, but heavy water movement tends to wear them out. Diet: Carnivore In the wild they prey on insects and small invertebrates. In aquariums, they are easy to feed and will eagerly eat flakes, pellets, and other common fish foods.
