It can be difficult to tell the exact species. If you purchase these, you could get Chilis or Phoenix or both.

A true nano fish, topping out at under an inch, the Chili Rasbora colors up to be a stunning red contrasted by black. They are peaceful fish that go well with other gentle species of an appropriate size. This is a fish which finds comfort in its own kind, so it does best when housed in groups, the bigger the better.

These fish are only available seasonally. Collecting periodically shut down in part to manage the fishery so the population doesn't get depleted. We never know exactly when the collecting season will be turned on and off, but we try to always have them in stock when they are in season.
Setup Considerations:
They can be kept in anything from a bare-bones tank to an expertly planted high-tech aquarium. What matters most is that the water quality is good. In the wild, these come from blackwater habitats with soft, acidic water, but this is hardly necessary in the aquarium. Here at Dan's Fish we have very hard, alkaline water and they do great and color up nicely.
Diet: Omnivore
We have found success feeding a rotation of Magic Small Fish Feed from Aquarium Co-Op, live baby brine shrimp, and Xtreme Monster Pellets.
